Indian Foreign Secretary Arrives in Islamabad

To resume the dialogue on all sensitive issues, Indian Foreign Secretary Subramayanyam Jaishankar has arrived in Islamabad on his two days visit.

Today, Indian Foreign Secretary Subramayanyam Jaishankar has arrived in Islamabad and has met with Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary Aizaz Chaudary. Foreign Ministry and Indian High Commission welcomed the delegation in Islamabad. In his trip to member states of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), Pakistan has decided to discuss all sensitive matters including Kashmir issue, Siachin water issue and intensive border situation. However, top agenda for India in the talks is ongoing issue of ceasefire violation and security situation on working boundary.

Moreover, India has decided to get Pakistan’s favour in trade to obtain non discriminatory market access and title of most favoured nation. Both countries are aiming to build confidence and improve contacts between both nations.

It is expected that he will also meet Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Special Assistant to Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi, National Security and Foreign Affairs advisor Sartaj Aziz. Senior officials from both sides are assisting in the dialogue and the visit is considered as an opportunity to enhance the relationships after a spam of nine months.

Before his visit to Pakistan, he has visited Bhutan and Bangladesh and will fly for Kabul on 4 March. He will meet Afghan’s newly elected president Ashraf Ghani and will discuss US ongoing dialogues with Taliban Commanders in Qatar to end the 13 years old war.
