Lahore Lions beat South African Domestic Team Dolphin by 16 Runs in 14th Match of Champions League T20 2014. Lions scored 164 runs in a must win match supported by Umar Akmal’s and Saad Nasim’s partnership of 92 for 5th Wicket. Umar Akmal further added 38 runs with Asif Raza for 6th Wicket.
Akmal returned unbeaten on 73, his innings was supported by 5 boundaries and massive sixes. He used only 45 deliveries to score a knock of 73, while Saad Nasim also contributed 43 runs on 26 balls including 3 boundaries and sixes. Earlier openers were failed to provide good start as Ahmed Shahzad returned to pavilion when Lions reached 12, Nasir next to go when total was 22. Agha Salman joined openers at pavilion adding just one run to scoreboard, while Lions Captain failed to impress with his bat and bowled by Delport when he was on 8.
At that time scoreboard of Lahore Lions was showing 34 runs after 7.2 overs while 4 top order batsmen were resting in pavilion.
However Umar and Saad build partnership and helped Lions to manage a defendable score.
In response Dolphins played aggressively during power play overs, but they can’t survive their wickets. Dolphin managed to score 44 runs during Power Play Overs, however they threw 3 wickets as well. Dolphins managed to score next 50 runs in 10.2 overs.
Hafeez put the ball to Wahab Riaz to bowl final over of match, at that position, Dolphin required 26 runs with 1 wicket on 6 balls. Subrayen miss first ball and got 1 runs of bye on very next ball, Frylinck hit six on 3rd ball while Dolphins required six on every ball to level the scores, Riaz was able to beat Frylinck on next ball. At the end of 20 overs, Dolphins manages to score 148 runs only. Lahore Lions won the match by 16 runs.
Frylinck played aggressive innings of 63 on just 27 balls powered by 4 boundaries and 6 massive sixes.
