According to the news, a heavy contingent of Rangers conducted a siege and search operation on Wednesday morning. Rangers cut off the telephone lines and arrested various leaders of MQM including Sindh Assembly member Rehan Zafar, Amir Khan, Dr Ayub Sheikh and Arshad Hussain. The operation continued till two hours and Rangers also fired areal gun shots to disperse the protestors who were gathered before the operational area soon after the operation began.
“Rangers has recovered a large amount of imported ammunition that’s use is banned in Pakistan and Rangers has also recovered the stolen weapons of NATO in Nine-Zero premises. Five suspected including one murderer involved in the murder of a journalist were arrested during the operation”, said Rangers Spokesman Colonel Tahir while talking to media reporters.
DG Rangers has firmly ordered to confirm the law and order situation in the city and has issued orders to instantly arrest the miscreants. To assure the peace of the city he asked the public to cooperate with enforcement agencies and inform rapidly to law and enforce agencies about any illegal activity on helpline 1101.
MQM leader Altaf Hussain has condemned the raid on his sister Saira Begum’s house and has said if something happen to her 68 years old sister Rangers will be responsible for it. She is a widow and eldest sister of Altaf Hussain raided as part of search operation conducted in Azizabad.
MQM leader Faisal Sabzwari has rejected the ranger’s statement about the weapons and all the ammunition is licensed but rangers hasn’t seen official documents.
Though, MQM has given a peaceful shutter down strike call but soon after the strike call petrol pumps have been shut down and public transport has disappeared from the roads as citizen fear violence.
