Six People Died in Road Accident in Karak

At least six persons have died and seven are wounded in Karak when a passenger van slipped from road and fell into a ravine.

The van was coming from Peshawar when it met a road accident near Banda Daud Shah Tehsil of Karak. Six people were diet while more than seven are critically injured.

According to police the van was en route from Peshawar to Bannu when it suddenly slipped from road and fell into a ravine. The rescue teams arrived at the spot and after providing first aid they transferred the dead bodies and wounded persons to hospital.

“When the van arrived near Hazara Kandow its brake failed and van slipped from road and skidded into the deep ravine”, said Station house officer of Banbda Daud Shah police Station Iqbal Shah.

According to Police the figure of recorded accidents had become the cause of death to more than 60,000 people from last 11 years. In Pakistan the major reason of road accidents are unsatisfied roads conditions and insufficient awareness of traffic rules. Because of fast driving pedestrians, children and cyclists become the victims of fatal road accidents.  

According to a survey report road accidents are a major cause of young deaths in Pakistan. More than 80% drivers are not aware from the benefits of safety belts and need of following traffic rules. Many young boys are becoming paralyzed for life time for not using helmets and over speeding on roads. In this respective, Motorway police and Nation highway police had wrote letters to Education department to demonstrate the value of awareness from traffic rules and had stressed to include traffic rules as a part of curriculum.
