US Shutdown Controversial Bagram Detention Center in Afghanistan

According to the report submitted in US Senate, United States bunged the Bagram detention center on Dec 10 finally and does not has detention of any prisoners in Afghanistan, as said by the US Defense Department, concluding a notorious section of Washington's extensive “war on terror”.

As the final nail in the coffin, US released remaining last three detainees from Bagram detention center located 40 Kilometers away from Kabul were also released. This detention center was last year renamed as the Parwan Detention Center in Afghanistan, when US handed over its control to local Afghan forces a part from high value foreign detainee’s enclosure.

This controversial detention center was setup more than a decade ago, when US with its 30,000 troops accompanied by collation NATO forces started combat operation in Afghanistan as a part of war on terror after 9/11 terror attacks go off in America.

Now, as on Dec, 31, 2014 US is going to withdraw most of its troops from Afghanistan squeezing them down to 6,000 only and all NATO forces contingents would also be withdrawn to end the more than decade long war in Afghanistan.

Although, some NATO troops will stay in Afghanistan to support the Afghan army and police for suppressing terrorists activities of Taliban’s.
